Harrison Candelaria Fletcher is the author of Descanso for My Father (2012), Presentimiento: A Life in Dreams (2016), and Finding Querencia: Essays from In Between (2022). His work has appeared widely in such literary journals and anthologies as New Letters, TriQuarterly, Puerto del Sol, Blue Mesa ReviewBest of Brevity, Best of Pilgrimage, Brief Encounters and The Touchstone Anthology of Contemporary Creative Nonfiction.


He is the recipient of a National Endowment for the Arts Creative Writing Fellowship, MacDowell Fellowship, Autumn House Press Nonfiction Prize, Colorado Book Award, New Mexico-Arizona Book Award, New Letters Literary Award, High Desert Journal Obsidian Prize, Sonora Review Essay Award, and JuxtaProse Essay Award. He also received a Pushcart Prize Special Mention, Best American Essays Notables, Kirkus Review Best Indie Memoir, Top Ten Latinx Author of 2017 by Latino Stories, and was a finalist for the National Magazine Award, International Latino Book Award, and Bakeless Literary Nonfiction Prize.


A native of Albuquerque, New Mexico, he is a former columnist, feature writer and beat reporter at newspapers throughout the West. He teaches in the MFA in Creative Writing Programs at Colorado State University and Vermont College of Fine Arts.
